Eye Opening

Posted by on January 9, 2013

I’ve only been here for a handful of days and it’s amazing how eye opening it is. I didn’t realize how many different people I would meet. My flat alone is made up of me, another American from Texas, Hege from Norway, Kerstin from Germany, and Grace from South Korea. I would never imagine my new family being SO international. We spent nearly three hours the other night talking about the differences in our countries. Everyone is so interested in how the government works in each nation and I’ve learned so much about so many different parts of the world just by talking to these girls! And unlike America where the presidential race was a close run, I can confirm that if the world got to vote Obama would have won by a landslide. Everyone in my flat loves Obama without hesitation. We talked about American politics for a long time and I’ve even talked to a few more German girls from Orientation that were astonished at the types of things that are still contested in the US. I have to admit, it is quite embarrassing haha, and I admit that to them.
